A.043 House by the lake, a summer house, Niesulice
When we were offered to prepare a design of a summer house, we did not think that it would be such a big a challenge. The person who appeared in our office was the owner of a large plot lying directly on the shoreline of Nieslysz Lake. This person expected of a modern, spacious house whose all rooms would have a view of the lake. The layout of the house that made most sense in this situation was a long and narrow body of the building set parallel to the lake. Because the lake is situated on the northern side of the plot, we also opened the living are on the other side so as to ensure access to sunlight. There we proposed a second terrace. However, the greatest challenge was to meet the guidelines that excluded each other. Those resulting from land development conditions - gable roofs, and the investor’s dreams about a flat roof. Inspired by the surrounding arrangement, i.a. small wooden buildings covered by gable roofs serving for storing boats, we decided to solve the problem by combining these two forms. We proposed a terrace over a larger part of the house, which allowed implementing a flat roof. And we designed bedrooms in the form of small wooden houses blended into the modern body of the building.
