A.049 D-house, Warsaw
A design of an approx. 600-metre villa in a very attractive location in Warsaw. The plot located in the vicinity of a ski jumping hill, on a significantly inclined terrain, subject to legal conditions and with a very short road access. Since functional requirements with respect to the houses were very high, the technical part of the house, including the garages, had to be put under the ground. In this situation, the key to the whole architectural concept was to solve the issue of going into the ground in a car. Finally, the best solution turned out to be a platform (a lift) moving vehicles vertically downwards. Such spared space, which otherwise would be replaced with a traditional public driveway (an inclined plane), enabled the collision-free solution of the remaining building use.
