A.051 Q-house, a detached house, Grudziadz
Grudziadz, a plot overlooking the Vistula River, located on a hill where until recently military radars stationed, is now a place where a four-hundred-metre detached house is being built. Designed on the plan of the small letter h, single-storied, with a basement partially below the ground floor. Soon a doctor with his wife and a teenage son is going to live there. Due to an interesting location, the building opens in multiple directions to the surrounding nature and the Sun through large-scale windows and internal atria. However, with using so much glazing it was necessary to introduce additional elements to ensure intimacy and to protect the inhabitants from excessive sunlight. To do this, vertical, concrete and unevenly spaced brise soleil was used almost all over the house outline. These elements and dark-charcoal colours of all elevation elements decided about a definitive character of the building.
